THE BRONX, NY — The Yankees concluded their series against the Rangers in a Thursday afternoon win. The Yankees took this one 9-2 over the Rangers, improving to 26-12 on the season.

Pitching Spotlight

Brandon Beck had a nice first outing as a Yankee. He got the spot start with Ryan Weathers being scratched due to illness. He pitched 3+ innings, allowing just two runs. For someone who was not deemed MLB-ready coming into the day, he showed up.

Beck will likely be sent back down to AAA after the game today, but his three innings of work were big for the Yankees. It allowed them to stay in, and eventually win the game.

Hitting Spotlight

  • Trent Grisham had the biggest hit of the game for the Yanks. Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, Grisham stepped up against Gore with the bases loaded and one out. He lined a bases-clearing double in the gap, giving the Yankees a 4-2 lead and ending Gore's day. The Yankees ended up batting around in the inning, and scored six total runs in the frame.
  • Ryan McMahon has been on fire as of late. He was 2-3 with two walks today against the Rangers. His at-bats set up some big innings today, including getting on base in front of Grisham in the sixth inning. Him working good at-bats is really lengthening the Yankees lineup and has been a big part of the Yankees winning ways over the past few weeks.

Notable

Jasson Dominguez got really hurt today. In the first inning, he made a tremendous catch to rob Nimmo of a double to lead off the game. He came out of the game imminently after crashing into the wall and hitting his head.

The Yankees announced during the game that Dominguez was examined by Dr. Chris Ahmad. He underwent initial concussion assessment and per standard procedure is in concussion protocol.  Dominguez will continue to be monitored and evaluated over next several days. Also undergoing MRI of left shoulder at NY Presbyterian Hospital. Hoping for the best for the kid.

What's Next?

The Yankees will start another nine-game road trip to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. It will be lefty Max Fried for the Yankees against Jacob Misiorowski (2-2, 2.84) for the Brewers. First pitch will be at 7:40 pm EST on YES.
